July, so far.

July has been pretty busy but great so far. Chuckie and I started planning a potential October vacation, one of my best friends came to visit for a week, I had dinner with one of my oldest, closest friends, had an excellent girls night with some potential new (and old!) friends, spent a ton of time with my babies and had excellent lunch dates with my love. I haven't had a single want-to-kill-myself stomach ache since going GF (although I've had plenty of regular/acid reflux/nausea from neck pain stomach aches, but I digress) and although I'm still a grumpy asshole about it most of the time, I'm learning to adjust.
Next weekend we're heading up to Philly (and surprisingly going to try to convince myself to move there? Side-eyeing myself, to be quite honest) to celebrate Chuckie's birthday. Things are good.

Recently

The last few days have had some ups and downs. Ups being my sister and I went to Delaware for a great wedding, I bought a new dress, and I got some great time in with Chuckie and the babies (mostly the babies). Downs being that I'm trying to eat gluten free to see if it'll help all of my stomach problems, and I am tormented daily by cake, brownies, bread, etc. It's harder mentally than it is physically because food is my life, but I'm trying my best.

Happy fourth of July, friends!

Weekly dose of Oliver

Oliver had a pretty good week. He went hiking with his dad and uncles in the Virginia mountains. They hiked somewhere around 15 miles to a waterfall, saw BEARS, and still somehow managed to make it back home standing up (not for long).
He also got to see his cousin, Lucie, on Mother's day. They are so damn cute when they play, Lucie totally dominates him with her 12 pound frame and if she doesn't get her way, she just sits on his face.
We also took a few good naps on fresh washed bedding. Maybe one day I'll get to enjoy the sheets and comforter straight out of the dryer before he does.

Oliver Obsession.

I don't think it's a surprise to anyone that I'm obsessed with Oliver. Don't get me wrong, I love Lola, she's my first born and cuddles better than anyone I know, but there's just something about dog children that's unlike anything else.
We recently started going to the dog park a couple days a week and he. goes. nuts. There's always the dog that barks constantly, the dog that bullies other dogs, the dogs that couldn't care less that there are other dogs around, and then Oliver. He tries to be best friends with everyone, goes up to every single dog and rolls on his back into submission (we really should get him a dog sibling so he stops playing like a cat) and outruns everyone.
HI MOM HI!
I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!

After an hour or so he's usually so exhausted he can barely stand up. We try to leave and he makes it halfway to the car before falling to the ground and giving you that look of I can'tttt makeeee itttttt. And this inevitably happens.
He's still not aware that he isn't a carrying-size dog. But it kind of makes me love him more. The end result is about 16 hours of sleep.
Being a dog mom is one of my favorite things in the world. Dog-cat ladies of the world UNITE.

Breaks, VA and Malakai.

I was really good at this whole blogging thing last month, but February has been quite slow. For the first time I felt like I really needed to step back from the internet, specifically the few places I spend most of my time on here, for various reasons. BUT I am not giving up on you, blog!

I went to Virginia for almost two weeks to welcome the newest love of my life, Malakai.
He is adorable and so alert and has a scream that sounds exactly like Prince. Monique's labor was horrible and terrifying but I'm doing my best to block it out and just think about this little guy. I also got to spend time with my favorite girls (Chuckie can be included in this category)

I seriously cannot get enough of these ladies. Jolie is the happiest, fattest, sweetest little baby, and Bijou has more personality than I have in my pinkie. That girl is amazing and crazy and is going to turn Jessica's hair grey before she hits double digits.

We stopped in Carrboro, NC on the way up to check it out after having it recommended to me a few times. I really liked it, all local coffee shops and cafes and a nice vibe. Of course after I thought 'I could live here' I realized it it's one of the more expensive towns in the area, I suck at this.
On the way home we stopped in Richmond to check out a neighborhood. I'm trying really, really hard to convince myself that I love Richmond and could live there since it's only an hour away from my family but I'm not quite convinced yet. When I think about it I just think of all the annoying hipsters from Woodbridge who went to VCU and the impossible parking and the fact that Virginia is a gross, backwards, republican state that thinks my uterus is government property. Not that NC is great with that either. Once again hating that I have a need to be close to them when all the places I want to live are so far away.

Oliver did great on this roadtrip which is a big step for him since he's terrified of the car! Halfway through he decided he wanted to assist Chuckie in driving and then pose with me from the backseat. No drugs necessary.
It was great seeing everyone but I am soooooo happy to be home. Lola hasn't left my side since. I can never go home without getting sick (if my mind isn't rejecting VA my body is) and an eleven hour car ride only made it worse, so I'm off to medicate and drink tea (or whine about it to Chuckie and eat M&Ms, whatever).

:3

Oliver and I woke up at the same time this morning.  When I looked down to see how he was laying (/creepy dog mom), he looked up at me sleepily and then rested his head on my legs.  He had such a happy smile on his face, I had to snap a picture.  I'm still kind of dying over it.

Welcome to Atlanta

We've been in Atlanta for a few weeks now. It's no Austin but I'm getting used to it.  It's weird to be around family who actually get along, and I've only gotten into one argument about politics and feminism so I'm doing pretty well so far.  Neither one of us have found a job yet so I'm spending a lot of time on the couch eating indian takeout and crying over one tree hill episodes from 2004.

I have a new niece who is adorable and perfect and makes my ovaries ache.

I also got my reiki certification FINALLY even though I've been doing it since I was a kid, I'm officially certified to heal yo pains, girl.  One step closer to crazy hippie cat lady who tells you what color your aura is.

Oliver!

Chuckie & I have wanted a dog foreverrrrrrr but I've resisted since we're not in the greatest place to have one (small apartment that doesn't allow dogs, we both work a lot, etc). We decided to go look at dogs today JUST FOR FUN and of course you know what happened....

Oliver!
I told myself if we did get a dog, it had to be over a year old so it was somewhat trained, but this little boy stole our hearts and we couldn't resist.
Lola has even warmed up to him already and decided to share his little home.
